Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doctor Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Joshua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slaughter comes into the arena with SICCNESS blaring out of the sound system. Mr Joshua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doctor Slaughter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Joshua! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joshua walks into a left hand. We've been hearing reports that Slaughter has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Joshua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Slaughter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Joshua scores with a decent looking hook. Slaughter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Joshua trying to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slaughter throws a big right hand that misses. Joshua avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joshua is pulling down on Slaughter's head. It's preventing any offense from Slaughter, at least for the moment. Joshua utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Slaughter postures up in Joshua's guard and throws a big left but Joshua blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slaughter trying to control but Joshua is working from the bottom. Slaughter throwing strikes from guard but Joshua blocks nicely. Joshua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Slaughter landing with the ground and pound. Joshua pulls Slaughter in close to his closed guard and prevents Slaughter from doing any damage or advancing position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slaughter is looking to work some ground and pound but Joshua has wrist control. Slaughter trying to control the position from guard on top but Joshua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Joshua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slaughter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Slaughter cracks Joshua with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Slaughter is looking to work some ground and pound but Joshua has wrist control. Slaughter stays in close to Joshua's body and controls the position. Slaughter wants to control from the top but Joshua keeps moving. Slaughter content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Slaughter showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Slaughter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Slaughter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Joshua is trying to control the position but Slaughter postures up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slaughter shoots in for a takedown but Joshua shows good takedown defense. Slaughter drives through with a takedown into guard. Slaughter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. That's four minutes gone in the round. Slaughter stands up over Joshua, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Slaughter throws a big elbow that misses. Joshua is trying to control the position but Slaughter postures up. Slaughter is working Joshua over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Slaughter with a flurry of punches that miss. Slaughter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Slaughter postures up.

Slaughter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Joshua works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Slaughter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doctor Slaughter dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Slaughter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Joshua sprawls well initially but Slaughter persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Slaughter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Joshua keeping hold of Slaughter's head, controlling as best he can. Slaughter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Slaughter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Slaughter moves into full mount! Joshua won't be happy about that! Slaughter fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Slaughter has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Joshua's face.
Slaughter raining down hammerfists from mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Joshua can do anything to dispel that myth. Joshua is squirming around, avoiding Slaughter's attempts to control the action. Slaughter in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Slaughter landing strikes from the mount and Joshua is in trouble! Slaughter misses with a head shot. Slaughter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Joshua looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Joshua is squirming around, avoiding Slaughter's attempts to control the action. A nice elbow there by Slaughter.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! BOOM! Slaughter connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Joshua wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Slaughter.

Joshua is rocked! Slaughter lands a big shot there that rocks Joshua but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Joshua is still in real trouble! Can Slaughter finish him? Joshua is in a horrible position here. Slaughter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Slaughter with the ground and pound from mount. Joshua is bucking up trying to escape but Slaughter cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Slaughter misses with a head shot. Doctor Slaughter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Slaughter lands a nice shot to the head. Slaughter content just to control the position here. Slaughter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Slaughter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Slaughter thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Slaughter working the ground and pound effectively.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Slaughter working away from the top, dropping strikes. Joshua is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
