PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fighter One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandez comes to the cage accompanied by BIGBANG - GIRLFRIEND. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fighter One!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
One tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hernandez swivels and escapes.
One misses with a body kick.
One tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hernandez counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - One looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hernandez throws a head kick that misses.

One looking to score a takedown here. Hernandez is defending well but One drives through and ends up in Hernandez's guard.
One controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hernandez pulls One in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hernandez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hernandez takes a swing at One's ribcage but misses.
One throws a counter combo.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

One clinches.
One managing to block the knees to the body from Hernandez.
Hernandez tries to pull guard but One holds him up against the cage and eventually Hernandez drops back down to his feet.
Hernandez tries to pull guard but One won't allow it.
One stalls.

One's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Hernandez. No joy for One on that attempt.
Hernandez tries to counter by clinching up but One breaks away and moves out of range.
Hernandez misses with a straight left.
Hernandez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hernandez throws a looping overhand right but One ducks down to avoid it.
One shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hernandez but Hernandez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mark Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fighter One.

Hernandez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hernandez throws an overhand right that lands on One's shoulder, as One tries to avoid the shot.
One misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hernandez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract One.
One moves out of range as Hernandez strikes.
One tries to counter by closing the distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from One.
Hernandez is looking to counter punch.
One misses with a body kick.
Hernandez works over One's head and body with a nice combination.

One looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hernandez manages to escape and get back to his feet!
One looks winded!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Hernandez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hernandez tries to pass to full mount but One defends it.
Hernandez drops an elbow to the side of One's head.
One moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hernandez wants to control from the top but One keeps moving.
One preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hernandez dives in and grabs One's left leg, looking for a takedown. One pushes down on Hernandez's head and hops out.
One gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hernandez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Hernandez. Those never looked like landing.
Hernandez jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Hernandez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. One did well to prevent Hernandez getting side control.
One trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Hernandez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hernandez wants to control the pace but One is squirming around nicely.

Hernandez is keen to just control but One is a slippery customer.
One is trying to maintain the position but Hernandez is very close to passing his half guard.
Hernandez is trying to control the action in half guard but One is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hernandez lands a nice short elbow.

Hernandez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on One, up you get!

One throws out a counter right but Hernandez avoids it with no problem.

enabling Hernandez to counter with a crisp jab.

One shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hernandez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
One takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

One trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hernandez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
One slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Hernandez.
Hernandez is trying to stand.
One works his way into side control.
Hernandez is looking to reverse the position.
One prevents Hernandez from escaping the position.
One working away.

Hernandez wants to control but One postures up.
Hernandez bucks up and tries to throw One off but instead One has got his back!

One has got one arm under Hernandez's chin. This could be trouble... Hernandez trying to control the other hand but One gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Hernandez has tapped out! The fight is over!
