Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Myles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredrik Stenberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Myles comes into the arena with Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop blaring out of the sound system. Darren Myles has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Myles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fredrik Stenberg!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stenberg swings for the body but Myles moves out of range.
Myles appears to be looking for a big counter.
Stenberg looks to throw the jab but Myles is out of range.
Myles swinging wildly here.
Myles tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stenberg defends well and Myles ends up having to push Stenberg into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stenberg changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Stenberg misses the jab.
Stenberg listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Myles shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Myles takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Myles takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Stenberg connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like Darren Myles has been cut.

Myles throws a left and a right that both miss
and Stenberg connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stenberg feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Myless jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Myles takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Stenberg falls off balance throwing a combination
and Myles counters with a two punch combo.

Stenberg drops his shoulder and cracks Myles with a huge uppercut! Myles goes down! Can Stenberg finish him?


Myles is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stenberg trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Oh Myles is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stenberg controls from within his opponent's guard.
Myles seems to have got his legs back now.
Let's hope that Stenberg has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Stenberg is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Myles is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Myles has escaped and now he's on top!

Stenberg wants to control the position but Myles says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Myles lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Myles throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Stenberg moves into full guard.

Stenberg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Myles defends it easily.

Stenberg working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Myles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Myles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stenberg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Myles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stenberg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Myles has managed to get both his arms back between Stenberg's legs - danger averted.
Myles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stenberg works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Myles in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Stenberg pulls Myles in close to prevent any damage.

Stenberg is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Myles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stenberg swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Myles counters with a one-two to the body.
Stenberg throws a body shot but no joy.
It looked like Myles was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Stenberg fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Myles avoids it really well and circles away.
Fredrik Stenberg seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Stenberg counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Stenberg scores with a crisp jab that stopped Myles in his tracks.

Darren Myles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Myles throws a right hand that Stenberg ducks under and follows up with a left that Stenberg also avoids with ease.

Myles throws a jab but it's blocked by Stenberg.
Stenberg drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Myles defends it well.
Stenberg comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Stenberg throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Myles sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stenberg cracks Myles with a right hand to the side of the head.
Stenberg missing with a left hand there. Myles was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Myles counters with a series of strikes that sends Stenberg to the canvas! Myles follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Myles postures up in Stenberg's guard and throws a big left but Stenberg blocks it.
Stenberg is still in real trouble! Can Myles finish him?

Stenberg is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stenberg stalling away here and it's allowed Myles to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Stenberg seems to have recovered his senses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Stenberg! But no joy.

Myles is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stenberg.

Stenberg isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Myles stacks Stenberg on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Myles!
Stenberg is working to avoid the ground and pound but Myles connects with a decent elbow.
Stenberg manages to work his way to half guard, despite Myles's best efforts.
Myles wants to control but Stenberg is keeping him busy.
Stenberg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Myles is working away from the top position though.
Myles seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Stenberg moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Myles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stenberg looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myles is one step ahead there.

Stenberg has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Myles doesn't defend quickly enough and Stenberg has managed to lock this one up! Can Myles escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Stenberg on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Fredrik Stenberg!
In his post fight interview, Fredrik Stenberg started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
