Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carl Menger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Uri Nierer! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Menger shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Menger throwing shots but Nierer is blocking nicely. Menger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nierer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Menger. Menger is nestled in close to Nierer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nierer can do anything to dispel that myth. Nierer wants to improve his position but Menger is controlling well.
Nierer keeps trying to improve his position. Menger working over Nierer with some ground and pound. Nierer looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Nierer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Menger scores with a couple of nice shots. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Menger lands a nice short elbow. Menger landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Menger throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Menger lands strikes from half guard. Nierer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Menger scoring with strikes to the body and head. Nierer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Menger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Menger working Nierer over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Menger landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Menger is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nierer is just riding it out for now. Menger eventually gives up the hold. Nierer has hold of Menger's hands but Menger slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Menger connects with a nice short shot to Nierer's temple. Menger missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Menger thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Nierer is trying to control but can't.

It looks like Uri Nierer has been cut. Nierer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Menger scores with a couple of nice shots. Menger not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Menger scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Menger scores with a big shot! Nierer's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Nierer! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
