Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randy Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgie Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Georgie Thunder will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Georgie Thunder!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant shoots in but Thunder avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Thunder is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Thunder is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Grant was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Grant throws a hook to the side of Thunder's head but Thunder sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Thunder misses with a low kick.
Thunder tests Grant's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Thunder is looking to clinch.

Grant feints and as Thunder raises his hands in defense, Grant changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant is working Thunder over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Grant throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thunder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Grant trying to control but Thunder is working from the bottom.
Grant makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Thunder looking to control.
Thunder wants to sweep here but Grant controlling him for the moment.
Grant in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Thunder controls Grant momentarily but Grant frees himself.
Grant not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Grant seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thunder for as long as he can get away with.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Grant tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thunder defends well and Grant ends up having to push Thunder into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Thunder lands a head kick!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Thunder.
Grant is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Grant shoots and misses
and Thunder counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Grant. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thunder clinches.

Thunder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Thunder swings for the body but Grant moves out of range.
Thunder closes the distance looking to clinch
and Grant counters with a stiff right hand.

Thunder with a poor takedown

and Grant counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Thunder looks winded!
Grant prevents the takedown attempt.
Grant looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Thunder works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grant is on top in guard.

Grant engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Grant throwing strikes but missing.
Grant is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Grant throws a big right hand that misses.
Grant throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thunder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Grant's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Grant trying to control the position from guard on top but Thunder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grant loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Thunder keeping moving, preventing Grant from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grant throwing strikes but missing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Randy Grant will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Thunder gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Grant counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Thunder rushes Grant and presses him up against the cage.
Thunder has Grant pushed against the cage.
Grant tries to score a body lock takedown but Thunder shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Thunder pulls guard successfully.
Grant is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Thunder utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Grant cracks Thunder with a solid left hand.
Thunder keeping moving, preventing Grant from controlling successfully.
Grant is looking to work some ground and pound but Thunder has wrist control.
Grant has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Thunder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Grant throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Grant seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Thunder throws a leg kick

and Grant counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Grant.

Grant shoots in for a takedown but Thunder shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Thunder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grant paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Grant counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Thunder wants to clinch but Grant slips to the side
and Grant counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Grant lands with a right hand.
Thunder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grant's waist but Grant gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thunder off to one side.
Thunder is breathing heavily.
Thunder on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Thunder doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Thunder closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Grant tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thunder smiles and moves away.

Grant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thunder as he jumps to the side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thunder throws a body punch but Grant moves out of range.
Thunder throws a right and a left that both miss.

Thunder walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Grant checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
No luck for Grant with that takedown attempt.
Thunder tries to clinch up but Grant circles away and keeps his distance.
Grant shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thunder pinned against the cage. Thunder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Grant keeps the fight on the outside.
A counter left hand to the body from Grant misses its target.
Grant fails with a takedown attempt.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Grant's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Grant loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Georgie Thunder will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Thunder throws a right hand that Grant ducks under and follows up with a left that Grant also avoids with ease.
Thunder closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grant circles away.

Grant shoots in and bounces Thunder off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Thunder being controlled here, momentarily.
Grant postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Thunder has his hands on Grant's head, controlling the position.

Randy Grant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Thunder is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Grant sets himself, and Thunder steps forward looking for the clinch! Grant avoids it this time.
Thunder tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grant swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Georgie Thunder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Grant counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Grant misses with a takedown attempt - Thunder sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Thunder looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Grant lands a high kick!
Thunder tries to land a front kick but Grant steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Grant shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thunder pinned against the cage. Thunder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Thunder is looking to clinch.

Grant gets the takedown into side control.

Grant lands an elbow.
Grant is looking to take a break and control but Thunder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Thunder manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Thunder is looking to control Grant's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thunder avoid being mounted?
Grant controlling the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Thunder wants to get back to full guard.
Grant is thwarting Thunder's attempts to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Randy Grant showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Grant has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
