Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henry Kane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Stavros! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kane jabbing away but nothing is landing. Kane has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stavros finds it's way round the side to connect with Kane's head. Kane tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stavros defends well and Kane ends up having to push Stavros into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Kane keeps the fight on the outside. Kane fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stavros to the ground. Kane is now in Stavros's guard. Stavros is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Kane scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Kane in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kane content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Stavros trying to control the position.
Kane is working Stavros over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane with a flurry of punches that miss. Kane sitting in guard here, content to control. Kane lands a couple of elbows. Kane makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Stavros utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Kane looking to pass the guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stavros can do anything to dispel that myth. Kane wants to control from the top but Stavros keeps moving. Kane is working Stavros over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kane postures up and lands a big shot to Stavros's brow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kane slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kane is looking to take a break and control but Stavros is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stavros takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kane scoring with punches and elbows. Kane is chipping away with strikes.
Stavros takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kane is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Stavros is not content to let Kane control the position. Stavros really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stavros takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Kane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Kane cracks Stavros with an elbow. That is naaassty. Kane lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stavros down.
Kane scores with a couple of short elbows. Kane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stavros keeps working. Kane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kane lands an elbow. Stavros taking a bit of punishment here - Kane scoring with strikes.
Stavros is rocked! Kane trying to control the position but Stavros is working away. Stavros takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Stavros is still in real trouble! Can Kane finish him? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kane cracks Stavros with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Kane immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Stavros is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Kane!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Henry Kane!
