Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza swings for the body but Benton moves out of range.
Mendoza throws a hook but Benton blocks it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Benton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Benton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendoza tries to avoid it but Benton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendoza to the ground. Mendoza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mendoza scores with a hook to the body. Benton takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendoza thuds a left hand into Benton's body.
Mendoza connects with a crisp jab.
Benton drops his hands for a split second and Mendoza immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Benton face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Mendoza follows up with a right hand that knocks Benton into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
