Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kirkland.


It looks like Stuart Kirkland has been cut.

Kirkland shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alexander napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kirkland is trying to get an arm triangle but Alexander is defending well.

Kirkland goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Alexander rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kirkland's guard! Nice work there by Alexander !

Kirkland has his hands on Alexander 's head, controlling the position.
Kirkland has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Kirkland.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Alexander won't allow Kirkland to sweep him here.
Alexander wants to stand but Kirkland is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Alexander bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kirkland's head backwards.

Kirkland closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alexander to the mat! Alexander manages to get full guard.
Kirkland throws a big elbow that misses.
Kirkland is working Alexander over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kirkland makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kirkland throws an elbow that misses. Alexander uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kirkland's guard. Nice move by Alexander !

Kirkland pulls Alexander in close to prevent any damage.
Kirkland looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alexander is one step ahead there.
Kirkland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kirkland has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alexander would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kirkland's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A close round but Rashad Alexander will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Alexander scores with a jab to the body.
Alexander takes a swing at Kirkland's ribcage but misses.

Kirkland fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alexander sprawls well initially but Kirkland persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kirkland is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Alexander doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kirkland.

Kirkland is working for a kimura but Alexander is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kirkland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kirkland is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alexander is just riding it out for now. Kirkland eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kirkland thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kirkland is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alexander is just riding it out for now. Kirkland eventually gives up the hold.

Kirkland is working for a kimura but Alexander is defending it quite comfortably.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kirkland seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Alexander lands a jab to the head.
Alexander lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kirkland shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


Kirkland is rocked!
Alexander lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Kirkland up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Alexander from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Kirkland's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rashad Alexander !
