Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve McQueen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McQueen comes to the cage accompanied by Carl Sagan - 'A Glorious Dawn' ft Stephen Hawking (Cosmos Remixed). This should be a great matchup!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQueen thows a body shot but no joy.
King misses with a body punch

and McQueen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
McQueen wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
King keeping full guard, as McQueen tries to pass.

McQueen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
King wants to stand up but McQueen is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McQueen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McQueen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McQueen trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
McQueen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
King tests McQueen's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Steve McQueen has been cut.
King misses the shot to the body.
McQueen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fighters circling - King throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McQueen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab.
King misses with a double jab

and McQueen counters with a single leg into guard. King didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McQueen drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick McQueen off! McQueen jumps back into King's guard.
McQueen wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McQueen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
King working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from McQueen.
McQueen throws a big right hand that misses.
McQueen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McQueen is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but McQueen has managed to sneak the leg through.
King pushes McQueen off looking to stand but McQueen dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McQueen scores a takedown into full mount!
McQueen unloads with some shots from mount but King bucks and avoids them well.
McQueen throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
King is bucking up trying to escape but McQueen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
McQueen thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
King avoids a series of strikes thrown by McQueen.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McQueen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King wants to hold on but McQueen pushes him away.
McQueen is stalling here but it's allowed King to get half guard.

McQueen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
King wants to get back to full guard.
McQueen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
King blocking the ground and pound attempt from McQueen.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McQueen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
King is trying to maintain the position but McQueen is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


King lands with an uppercut that bounces McQueen off the cage and back into rage.
A swing and a miss from King.
McQueen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McQueen walks into a straight right hand from King.
King throws a big shot that misses.
King fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
King throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
King misses with a wild combination.
King misses with a looping left.
McQueen throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
King throws a body punch but McQueen moves out of range.
McQueen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McQueen.
King throws a jab but it's blocked by McQueen.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King throws a jab when McQueen was well out of range.
King cracks a nice hook into McQueen's ribs.
McQueen ducks under a wild hook from King.
The fighters circle momentarily. King darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
McQueen walks straight into a right hand from King - that's dropped him! King jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save McQueen from any more punishment! McQueen complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Darren King!
Darren King is the new lightweight champion!
