Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Graig Parsons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ajax Bushiri! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Francis DeMontford and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parsons rushes Bushiri and presses him up against the cage. Parsons really is a fat lump. Bushiri utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Bushiri decides to pull guard. Bushiri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bushiri seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parsons accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Parsons trying to control the position from guard on top but Bushiri is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bushiri not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Parsons wants to stand and escape but instead Bushiri has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Bushiri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parsons is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bushiri defends well. Parsons controlling Bushiri's posture. Parsons keeping moving, preventing Bushiri from controlling successfully. Bushiri decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Parsons, up you get! Bushiri leaves Parsons with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bushiri looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bushiri throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parsons works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Parsons looking for a sweep. Not yet Parsons, not yet. Parsons has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Bushiri should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Parsons has tightened it up now! Bushiri should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Graig Parsons!
