Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Kuznetsov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isamu Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yamada has chosen Yoshida Brothers - Ibuki as his entrance music. Isamu Yamada told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nikolai Kuznetsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Isamu Yamada! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamada fails with the takedown and Kuznetsov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Yamada closes the distance and clinches up with Kuznetsov, looking for a takedown. Yamada pushes Kuznetsov against the ropes but Kuznetsov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Kuznetsov throwing a counter right hand but Yamada manages to avoid it. Kuznetsov avoids the head kick by Yamada.
Yamada tries to clinch but Kuznetsov is having none of it. Yamada ducks under a wild hook from Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Yamada misses with a takedown attempt - Kuznetsov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nikolai Kuznetsov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isamu Yamada. Yamada slips under a jab from Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov lands a right hook to the body.
Kuznetsov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Yamada on the side of the head. Kuznetsov lands a jab to the head.
Kuznetsov throws a jab when Yamada was well out of range. Yamada takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Kuznetsov connects with a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kuznetsov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yamada stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kuznetsov lands a slapping body shot.
Yamada closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuznetsov is staying active underneath Yamada, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Yamada perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Kuznetsov is looking to escape. Kuznetsov trying to control from the bottom.
Kuznetsov is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Arm Breakers/BJJ that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Kuznetsov is defending against the submission attempts here by Yamada.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Yamada is looking to advance position but Kuznetsov won't allow it. Kuznetsov tries to kick Yamada off but Yamada keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Yamada is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kuznetsov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yamada's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yamada's back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuznetsov is trying to stand. Yamada can't escape the position.
Yamada keeps the fight on the ground as Kuznetsov tries to escape. Yamada looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Kuznetsov decides to get back to his feet. A strange decision but one that the crowd certainly appreciate.
Yamada throws a right hand that Kuznetsov ducks under and follows up with a left that Kuznetsov also avoids with ease. Nice straight punches there by Kuznetsov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov blocks a head kick by Yamada.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuznetsov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A jab from Kuznetsov misses. Kuznetsov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yamada circles away quickly and effectively. Yamada drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kuznetsov wants to get back to his feet but Yamada passes into half guard.

Yamada not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kuznetsov scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Yamada manages to mount him!
Yamada avoids the attempt from Kuznetsov to control. Yamada working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yamada jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kuznetsov manages to avoid the submission attempt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Yamada looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kuznetsov is looking for a sweep. Kuznetsov avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Yamada. Yamada has hold of Kuznetsov's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kuznetsov seems comfortable defending it but Yamada has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kuznetsov is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kuznetsov is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Yamada couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Isamu Yamada! During a confident post fight interview, Isamu Yamada thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
