Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Boitsov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stein is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Red - Falling Sky. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Stein! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boitsov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Stein looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Stein throws a quick inside leg kick. A jab from Boitsov misses. Boitsov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stein. Boitsov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A solid leg kick lands there for Stein.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stein lands a jab. Stein connects with a single shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boitsov tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Stein getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Stein tries to work over Boitsov's front leg with a kick but Boitsov checks it. Boitsov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stein sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boitsov somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Boitsov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stein gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Boitsov has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Stein is trying to keep an underhook but Boitsov manages to get the takedown into half guard. Boitsov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stein is just riding it out for now. Boitsov eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stein wants to control but Boitsov is keeping busy and won't allow it. Boitsov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Stein blocking the ground and pound attempt from Boitsov. Stein wants to get back to his feet. Stein is looking for a sweep. Boitsov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Boitsov passes to full mount! This has been an exciting period of action! Stein wants to hold on but Boitsov pushes him away.

Boitsov throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Boitsov goes for an armbar but Stein turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Stein. Boitsov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stein wants to control from the top but Boitsov keeps moving. We've been hearing good reports from Boitsov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Boitsov throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Stein stands and steps away. Boitsov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Stein takes one on the button. Frank Stein is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Stein uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Boitsov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Boitsov connects with a right hand. Stein shakes it off. Boitsov lands a head shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stein connects with a single shot there. Boitsov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Boitsov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stein finds it's way round the side to connect with Boitsov's head. Frank Stein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boitsov misses with a takedown attempt and Stein counters by clinching up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Stein dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Boitsov fails with the takedown and Stein counters with a low kick, right behind Boitsov 's knee. Boitsov ducks under a wild hook from Stein. Stein has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Stein misses with a hook to the body
and Boitsov counters with a stiff right hand. A left lands for Stein. Stein moves into the clinch. Stein lands an elbow that stopped Boitsov in his tracks for a moment. Stein is leaning against Boitsov and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Stein. Stein is defending well against a takedown attempt. Boitsov is trying to drag Stein to the mat but Stein just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Boitsov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boitsov jumps guard but Stein stands there with Boitsov around his waist. Boitsov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice glancing elbow lands by Stein. Boitsov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stein misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Stein can't find room to land a body shot as Boitsov controls the action.

Boitsov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stein doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stein manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Stein gets to his feet - Boitsov follows without any prompting. Boitsov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Stein drops his hands momentarily and Boitsov takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Stein fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Boitsov manages to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stein fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Boitsov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Boitsov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stein. Stein misses with a body shot.
Boitsov with a lazy takedown attempt and Stein counters by moving into the clinch. Stein doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boitsov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stein walks away with a smile on his face. Boitsov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Stein misses with a wild body shot. Boitsov changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Stein misses with a wild body shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A nice leg kick lands there from Stein. Stein lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Boitsov at a distance.
Stein tries to land a front kick but Boitsov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. It looked like Boitsov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Stein swings for the body but Boitsov moves out of range.

Stein works the jab nicely. Stein has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Stein defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Boitsov. Stein leaves Boitsov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boitsov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Stein dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Stein tests Boitsov's chin there with a solid looking shot. Stein misses with a low kick. Stein goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Boitsov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stein is fending him off so far but Boitsov persists. Nope, Stein circles away and we're back to standing. Stein slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Frank Stein seems to be getting the better of the standup. Boitsov slips a jab from Stein. Stein misses with a hook. Boitsov on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Stein. Stein obviously looking to wear him down.

Frank Stein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Boitsov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Boitsov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Stein is adopting a defensive guard. Boitsov postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stein managing to control the position. Boitsov wants to pass the guard but Stein is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stein looking to control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Stein seems keen to control Boitsov's posture.

Stein is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Stein misses with a straight right. Stein uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Boitsov. Boitsov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Boitsov cracks Stein with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Boitsov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Stein uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Boitsov misses with a looping right.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stein ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Boitsov moves away. Stein gets caught napping as Boitsov dives in and scores a takedown. Stein manages to retain guard. Boitsov being controlled here momentarily. Dmitry Boitsov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stein not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Frank Stein is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boitsov being controlled here momentarily. Boitsov wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving. Stein is controlling Boitsov's posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stein is trying to control the position but Boitsov postures up. Boitsov pushing down on Stein's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Stein is looking to control Boitsov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stein avoid being mounted? Boitsov is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stein slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Stein working a defensive guard but Boitsov manages to pass into side control anyway.
