Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frederick Dukes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frederick Dukes!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dukes shoots for a takedown but Lewis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Dukes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dukes is trying to control the action in half guard but Lewis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lewis looking for submissions off his back.
Dukes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lewis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dukes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lewis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dukes is pressing down on Lewis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lewis is holding on for now.
Dukes seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Lewis tries to roll over but Dukes keeps him under control.
Dukes is controlling the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dukes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lewis is fending him off so far but Dukes persists. Nope, Lewis circles away and we're back to standing.
Frederick Dukes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dukes shoots in for a takedown but Lewis shows good takedown defense.
Marcus Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frederick Dukes.

Dukes clinches up with Lewis and pushes him back against the cage.
Lewis jumps guard but Dukes stands there with Lewis around his waist. Lewis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Lewis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lewis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lewis is breathing heavily.
Dukes wants to get back to his feet but Lewis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lewis works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dukes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lewis is working away from the top position though.
Dukes is staying active underneath Lewis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lewis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lewis wants to stand up but Dukes has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Lewis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dukes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dukes is staying active underneath Lewis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lewis prevents Dukes from improving his position.

Lewis is working for a submission of some sort.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dukes tries for a takedown but Lewis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dukes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard.

Lewis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Lewis has his foot on Dukes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dukes works his way back into a safe position though.

Lewis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dukes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frederick Dukes dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice body punch from Dukes.
Dukes throws a series of strikes that have Lewis backpedaling.

Lewis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dukes!
Dukes is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Dukes wants to control but Lewis is having none of it.
Dukes is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lewis wants to take Dukes's back but he can't do it this time.

Lewis throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dukes because Lewis loaded up on that one.

Lewis wants to finish this one by submission but Dukes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lewis.

Poor strikes thrown by Lewis there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dukes is trying desperately to improve position.

Lewis is looking to work his way around to Dukes's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Lewis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lewis wants to stand up but Dukes has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Dukes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dukes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lewis tries to lock up and control but Dukes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lewis bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Dukes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lewis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lewis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lewis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dukes's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frederick Dukes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dukes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lewis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Frederick Dukes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Dukes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
