Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bill Boket! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joao Aguilar! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boket tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Aguilar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Boket moves into range and connects with a jab. Boket lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Aguilar takes one to the chin there. Aguilar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Aguilar is looking to take a break and control but Boket is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aguilar tries to pass to full mount but Boket defends it. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Aguilar connects with a nice short shot to Boket's temple. Aguilar looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Aguilar with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Aguilar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boket trying to control but Aguilar postures up.
Boket is breathing heavily. Aguilar is looking to take a break and control but Boket is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aguilar is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Boket wants to get back to his feet. Aguilar wants to control but Boket is keeping him busy. Boket really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Aguilar is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aguilar is working for a submission of some sort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguilar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boket with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bill Boket's cut is getting worse. Boket is staying active underneath Aguilar, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Boket taking some punishment here, with Aguilar in his half guard.
Boket is rocked!
Bill Boket's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bill Boket's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
