Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurja Karju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chaz Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Attack by 30 Seconds to Mars kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chaz Alves was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kurja Karju! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chaz Alves! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karju gets a clinch. Karju avoiding damage as Alves throws knees to the body.
Alves scores with a knee to the head.
Alves wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Karju manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Karju is on top in guard.
Karju is stalling in the full guard. Karju looking to pass the guard. Alves wants to stand but Karju is controlling the position. Alves is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karju tries to free his leg and advance position but Alves is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves can't keep his opponent in guard - Karju advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Alves is looking to escape. Alves looks gassed!
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Alves, right into the meat.
Karju moves into range and clinches up with Alves. Karju tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Alves just stands there and leans against the cage. Karju drags the fight down to the ground.
Alves wanted to stand there but Karju had control of the position. Karju controlling Alves's posture. Alves wants to stand but Karju has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karju trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Karju has Alves pulled in close to control his posture. Karju wants to sweep but no luck. Karju has Alves pulled in close to control his posture. Alves must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Karju manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alves manages to get himself to full guard.
Karju slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves wants to stand up but Karju is controlling him. Karju controls from within his opponent's guard. Alves keeping full guard, as Karju tries to pass. Alves keeping moving, preventing Karju from controlling successfully. Alves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Karju controls the pace.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Kurja Karju just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Karju circles away from the clinch attempt and Karju counters by clinching up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Karju wants a takedown but no success here.
Alves wants to get back to striking at distance but Karju won't allow it.

Alves lands a knee to the head.
Alves breaks the clinch.
Karju moves out of range of the body kick from Alves.
Karju will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Karju's head. Alves moves out of range of the body kick from Karju.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurja Karju dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Alves throws a head kick that misses. Karju cracks the inside of Alves's front leg. Alves throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Karju. Karju checks a low kick from Alves. Alves throws a head kick but Karju moves out of range.
Karju misses with a few strikes there.
Karju shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Alves circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alves tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Karju counters by moving into the clinch. Alves landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Alves is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves breaks from the clinch.
Alves tries to clinch but fails miserably and Karju counters with a low kick, right behind Alves 's knee. Karju throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Chaz Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves wants to clinch but Karju slips to the side and Karju counters by clinching up. Karju tries to land knees in the clinch but Alves avoids the damage to the body. Alves tries to break the clinch but Karju is controlling the position. Karju ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Karju no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Karju is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alves wants to stand and escape but instead Karju has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Karju looking to pass the guard. Alves is looking to stand up but Karju isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karju trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Karju accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Alves is looking to stand up but Karju isn't so interested in that idea. Karju advances to half guard. Karju throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Karju controlling the pace. Karju working over Alves with some ground and pound. Alves looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Karju stalling. Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karju. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves tries to kick Karju off in order to stand up. Karju Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. A lull in the action here. Karju in side control lands a decent elbow. Karju controls the position. Karju tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Karju moves into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Alves squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Karju sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Alves is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Karju scores with a couple of good head shots there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurja Karju dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Karju misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alves motions for Karju to come forward. Alves throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Karju throws a series of punches but Alves moves out of range. Alves misses with the combination.
Karju misses with a double jab
and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Karju backing up. Karju nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes. Karju looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Alves throws a push kick but Karju slaps the foot to one side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alves gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Alves misses with an elbow over the top. Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alves wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves prevents the takedown attempt.
Karju goes for a takedown attempt but Alves pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alves misses with a combination
and Karju counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Karju stops Alves from standing up. Karju showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Alves wants to stand but Karju is controlling the position. Karju content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves wants to stand but Karju is controlling the position. Karju pushes down on Alves's leg and manages to get into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Karju in particular looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karju passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Alves! Alves really wants to buck Karju off and get back to his feet. Karju controlling his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karju's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Karju trying to control but Alves is having none of it. Alves's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Karju tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. You get the feeling that Alves really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Karju tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Karju wants to control the pace but Alves is squirming around nicely.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Kurja Karju just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Alves fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Karju, pushing him back against the cage. Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kurja Karju is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Karju forces Alves back against the cage and clinches. Alves creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Chaz Alves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alves pushes off an fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Alves tries to land knees in the clinch but Karju avoids the damage to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Kurja Karju showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Karju, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
