Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Holton Hamburger! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Huth! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hamburger doesn't succeed with the takedown and Huth counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Huth looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hamburger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Huth is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Huth can't find room to land a body shot as Hamburger controls the action.
Hamburger wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Holton Hamburger. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee calls for Huth to work.
Huth throws a head punch that misses. Come on Huth - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee is keeping an eye on Huth - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Huth can't find room to land a body shot as Hamburger controls the action.
Huth scores a nice knee to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Huth misses with a punch on the inside.
Hamburger turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Huth is looking to get back to his feet here but Hamburger is keeping cool and he's managed to take Huth's back. Hamburger is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Huth has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hamburger has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Huth taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hamburger doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Holton Hamburger! Holton Hamburger retains his middleweight title! Holton Hamburger was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
