Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Naoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathieu Patrice Boulpiquante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathieu Patrice Boulpiquante told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boulpiquante shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Naoki is trying to defend but Boulpiquante finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boulpiquante is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Naoki has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boulpiquante is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Boulpiquante looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Naoki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boulpiquante's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boulpiquante's back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boulpiquante is taking damage to the body and head.
Naoki has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Boulpiquante.
Naoki lands shots from the back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Naoki scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Naoki connects with a big shot to the side of Boulpiquante's head.

I really don't envy Boulpiquante right now.
Naoki is trying to stick to Boulpiquante's back but Boulpiquante is turning into Naoki. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Naoki's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Boulpiquante.
Boulpiquante drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Naoki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Boulpiquante has Naoki in his guard.

Boulpiquante has momentary wrist control but Naoki slips an elbow through the middle.
Boulpiquante working for a triangle but Naoki defends it easily.
Boulpiquante is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Naoki is aware though and is defending well.
Naoki trying to control the position from guard on top but Boulpiquante is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Naoki content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Naoki postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Boulpiquante is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Naoki is aware though and is defending well.
Boulpiquante has his foot on Naoki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Naoki works his way back into a safe position though.
Naoki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Boulpiquante is rocked!

Naoki gets to his feet and stands over Boulpiquante, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Boulpiquante felt that one! Naoki unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Boulpiquante from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takeshi Naoki!
