Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Georges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ramsy Ricochet! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Georges sizes up Ricochet with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Georges looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Georges falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ricochet moves into the clinch. Ricochet pulls guard effortlessly. Ricochet is controlling Georges's posture. Ricochet had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Georges defends it easily. Ricochet escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Georges gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ricochet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Georges. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ricochet looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ricochet can't keep his opponent in guard - Georges advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Ricochet trying to hold on to Georges's head to control him but Georges postures up.
Ricochet wants to get back to full guard. Georges not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Ricochet is looking for a sweep. Georges is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Georges thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ricochet's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ricochet holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Ricochet wants to get back to full guard. Ricochet tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Georges misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ricochet.
The fighters circling - Georges throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Georges tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Georges gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ricochet to score an easy takedown into full guard. Ricochet sitting in guard here, content to control. Ricochet thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ricochet is stalling in the full guard. Ricochet must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ricochet working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ricochet controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Ricochet wants to pass the guard but Georges is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ricochet is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ricochet feints and as Georges raises his hands in defense, Ricochet changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ricochet forces his way into half guard. Georges keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Georges trying to control from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ramsy Ricochet dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Ricochet scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ricochet lands some shots froms side control. Georges looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A lull in the action here as Ricochet stalls from top position. Ricochet lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Georges down.
Ricochet remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Let's hope that Ricochet has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ricochet is continuing to stall. Ricochet decides to stand up, so the ref orders Georges to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ricochet takes a shot right to the bread basket. A cross from Georges lands. Ricochet throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ricochet has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ricochet drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Georges is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ricochet decides to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ricochet fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Georges, pushing him back against the cage. Ricochet is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Georges can't fight it off and eventually Ricochet manages to take the fight to the floor. Georges looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Georges is looking to stand back up but Ricochet counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Georges. Ricochet with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ricochet prevents Georges from improving his position. Ricochet perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ricochet is pressing down on Georges's thigh, looking to free his foot. Georges is holding on for now. Ricochet is working for a kimura but Georges is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ricochet is taking a breather. Georges says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ramsy Ricochet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Ricochet looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ricochet stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Georges swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ricochet content to stall in guard here. Ricochet decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ricochet looking to score a takedown here. Georges is defending well but Ricochet drives through and ends up in Georges's guard. Ricochet is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ricochet gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Georges's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ricochet connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Georges scrambles back to his feet. Ricochet gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Ricochet unloads a knee to the mid-section. Georges lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Still in the clinch, Ricochet scores with a nice short uppercut. Ricochet has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Georges uses from the top position. Ricochet wants to hit a switch here but Georges passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ricochet there! Ricochet tries to lock up and control but Georges gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Georges tries to control but Ricochet wriggling away. Ricochet is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Georges throws some wild stikes that Ricochet manages to avoid easily.
Ricochet keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ricochet wants to control but Georges is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Georges tries to control but Ricochet wriggling away. Ricochet is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Georges landing shots from mount. Ricochet regains half guard. Ricochet blocking the ground and pound attempt from Georges.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Georges prevents Ricochet from improving his position. Georges thows a huge punch but Ricochet dodges it nicely.
Ricochet is refusing to be controlled, as Georges sits in half guard. Ricochet wants to get back to his feet. Ricochet keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Georges. Georges Georges has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ramsy Ricochet is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Ricochet looking to score a takedown here. Georges is defending well but Ricochet drives through and ends up in Georges's guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Georges manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! Georges Georges showed his dominance in that final round. I think Ricochet has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
