Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Gus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psalmiel Iheaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander Gus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Gus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Psalmiel Iheaka!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iheaka connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Gus clinches up against the cage.
Iheaka gets underhooks to prevent Gus's takedown attempt.

Gus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Iheaka tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Iheaka throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gus misses the shot to the body.
Gus lands a head shot.
Gus tries a head kick but it misses.
Iheaka throws a body kick that misses.
Gus closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Alexander Gus has been cut.
Iheaka tries to clinch but Gus moves out of range.
Gus swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Iheaka tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Iheaka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Iheaka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gus shoots in but Iheaka avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Iheaka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Iheaka shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Iheaka seems to be working for a kimura but Gus defends the submission attempt.

Iheaka is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gus is just riding it out for now. Iheaka eventually gives up the hold.

Iheaka is working for a submission of some sort.
Gus is looking for a sweep. Iheaka is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Iheaka working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gus's thigh. Gus counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Iheaka is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Gus is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Iheaka postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Iheaka, into his guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Gus will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Gus moves into the clinch.

Gus is working for takedown but Iheaka is calmly controlling the position for now.

Iheaka manages to break the clinch.
Iheaka swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Iheaka gets tackled into the cage by Gus. Gus maintains the clinch.
Iheaka prevents the takedown attempt.

Gus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Iheaka shoots in and gets a takedown into Gus's guard.
Gus wants to get back to his feet but Iheaka is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Iheaka stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Gus has closed the distance and engaged Iheaka in a clinch.

Gus tries to break free but Iheaka pushes him back against the cage.
Gus jumps guard but Iheaka stands there with Gus around his waist. Gus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Iheaka looking to stall.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gus takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Iheaka tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gus just stands there and leans against the cage.
Gus drops down looking for an ankle pick but Iheaka pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Iheaka drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gus defends it well.
Alexander Gus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gus tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Iheaka defends well and Gus ends up having to push Iheaka into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Iheaka is looking to clinch but Gus is avoiding it.
Iheaka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Iheaka has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Gus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Iheaka walks away with a smile on his face. Gus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Iheaka shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gus napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gus explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Iheaka tries to clinch but Gus moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Iheaka as Gus shoots in.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Iheaka shoots in for a takedown but Gus shows good takedown defense.

Gus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Iheaka circles away quickly and effectively.

Iheaka shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gus's guard.

Iheaka is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gus looking to control.

Gus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Iheaka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alexander Gus will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Iheaka avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gus lands with an overhand left.
Gus throws a head kick but Iheaka moves out of range.
Gus is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Iheaka.
The fight stays on the outside here - Iheaka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Iheaka shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gus is trying to defend but Iheaka finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Iheaka is looking to take a break and control but Gus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Iheaka is controlling the pace.

Iheaka is keen to just control but Gus is a slippery customer.
Iheaka not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Iheaka.


Gus is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Iheaka has an Americana. Gus didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Iheaka is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Iheaka hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Psalmiel Iheaka!
