Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andy Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zeke Basov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Wilkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zeke Basov!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basov shoots in but no luck this time.
Basov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wilkins pinned against the cage. Wilkins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wilkins attempts a counter takedown but Basov avoids it well and moves away.
Wilkins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wilkins wants it to stay on the feet.
Andy Wilkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeke Basov.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Basov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wilkins sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Basov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Wilkins tries to move into full mount but can't pass Basov's legs.

Wilkins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Basov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Wilkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wilkins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wilkins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wilkins controls the position.
Wilkins is looking to take a break and control but Basov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Basov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Basov tries to buck Wilkins off but Wilkins is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilkins wants to control but Basov is keeping him busy.

Basov is not content to let Wilkins control the position.

Basov tries for a takedown but Wilkins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Wilkins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Basov can do to turn this around?

Wilkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Basov's guard.
Basov controls Wilkins momentarily but Wilkins frees himself.
Wilkins with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Wilkins drops back looking for a leg! Basov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Basov manages to kick Wilkins off! Wilkins jumps back into Basov's guard.

Wilkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Basov is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Basov wants to control the position but Wilkins says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Wilkins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Wilkins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Basov is just riding it out for now. Wilkins eventually gives up the hold.
Wilkins is controlling the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wilkins wants to work for an arm triangle but Basov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Wilkins is working for a kimura but Basov is defending it quite comfortably.

Wilkins is working for a submission of some sort.

Basov trying to control from the bottom.
Wilkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Basov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wilkins wants to control but Basov is keeping him busy.
Wilkins looks to land a strike but Basov avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Poor strikes thrown by Wilkins there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Basov reaches up and holds on to Wilkins to control the position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Wilkins throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Basov.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wilkins is defended easily by Basov.

Basov postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
