Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Winters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Taco Stiffy! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stiffy stuffs the takedown attempt from Winters. Winters gets slowly back to his feet. Stiffy takes a swing at Winters's ribcage but misses. Winters moves out of range as Stiffy strikes. Winters tries for a takedown but Stiffy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Winters bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Stiffy misses with a hook. Winters ducked under it nicely. Stiffy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Winters manages to avoid it. Stiffy misses with a shot to the body and Winters counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Stiffy looks to throw the jab but Winters is out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Winters shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stiffy as he jumps to the side. Stiffy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Winters. That's going to take a lot out of him. Winters uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stiffy. Winters listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stiffy misses with a wild body shot. Winters seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Winters lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Winters. Winters slips under a jab from Stiffy. Winters tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Stiffy manages to circle out of the way. Jack Winters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Winters. Stiffy changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Stiffy takes a body punch but keeps moving. Stiffy misses with a body shot.
Stiffy thows a left - swing and a miss! Stiffy throws the left hand but Winters avoids the punch easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Stiffy enables Winters to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stiffy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Stiffy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stiffy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Winters doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Winters manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. This has been an exciting period of action! Stiffy trying to control the position.
Stiffy pulls Winters in to control the position. Stiffy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Winters defends well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stiffy is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Winters has his hands clasped together but Stiffy extends and breaks Winters's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Stiffy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Taco Stiffy! In his post fight interview, Taco Stiffy gave a big smile as he said 'SNIFFY KNOWS HOES ! '.
