PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alvar Czarzsa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marin Averescu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alvar Czarzsa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marin Averescu!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Averescu doesn't manage to clinch there - Czarzsa circles away.
Czarzsa closes the distance and clinches up with Averescu, looking for a takedown. Czarzsa pushes Averescu against the cage but Averescu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Averescu is looking for the big counter here.
Averescu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Czarzsa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Averescu was well out of range. Poor timing from Czarzsa.
Averescu throws a counter combo.
Averescu has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Czarzsa is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Czarzsa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Averescu looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Averescu content to stall in guard here.
Averescu wants to get up but he can't break Czarzsa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Averescu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Czarzsa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Averescu is one step ahead there.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Alvar Czarzsa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Czarzsa fails with a takedown attempt.
Averescu feints the counter takedown.
Averescu is looking to clinch.

and Averescu counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Czarzsa is trying to drag Averescu to the mat but Averescu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Averescu wants the takedown. Czarzsa is fighting it off but Averescu persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Czarzsa's guard against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Averescu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Czarzsa throws a body shot but no joy.

Averescu drives through with a takedown into Czarzsa's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Averescu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Averescu engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Czarzsa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Averescu.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Averescu won't allow Czarzsa to sweep him here.
Averescu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A solid body kick from Averescu.
Czarzsa shoots for a double leg takedown but Averescu sprawls well. He's pushed Czarzsa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Averescu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Averescu moves into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Czarzsa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Averescu after a bit of a struggle.
Averescu lands with a left to the head.
Averescu scores with a hook to the body.

Averescu manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marin Averescu dominated that round.
That's time! Czarzsa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Averescu explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Averescu.
Czarzsa tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Averescu easily slips into full mount!

Czarzsa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Averescu is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Czarzsa has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Czarzsa!

Czarzsa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Averescu is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Averescu might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Czarzsa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Averescu has Czarzsa pulled in close to control his posture.

Averescu wriggles free and stands up.
Czarzsa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Averescu as he avoids it easily.

and Averescu counters with a two punch combo.
Averescu moves into range and connects with a jab.
Averescu takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Averescu drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Averescu has gone for a leg lock! Czarzsa slips out almost immediately though and dives into Averescu's guard.

Averescu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Czarzsa's guard.

Averescu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Averescu forces Czarzsa back against the cage and clinches.
Czarzsa can't get the takedown.

Averescu manages to break the clinch.
Czarzsa swats away the attempt to clinch by Averescu.

Averescu closes the distance and pushes Czarzsa back into the cage.

Averescu lands an elbow inside that Czarzsa shrugs off.
Still in the clinch, Averescu scores with a nice short uppercut.

Averescu has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Marin Averescu has got the better of the ground game so far.
Czarzsa trying to control but Averescu is working from the bottom.

Marin Averescu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Czarzsa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Averescu makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Marin Averescu seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Averescu lands with a kick to the ribs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Averescu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Marin Averescu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Czarzsa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Averescu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Czarzsa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Czarzsa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Czarzsa throws a hook but Averescu avoids it easily.
Czarzsa has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Czarzsa there as he acknowledges the shot.

Czarzsa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Czarzsa takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Averescu drives through and clinches with Czarzsa against the cage.
Czarzsa goes for a takedown attempt but Averescu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Czarzsa dives in and grabs Averescu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Averescu pushes down on Czarzsa's head and hops out.
Czarzsa takes a swing at Averescu's ribcage but misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Czarzsa looks to score with a jab to the body but Averescu is just out of range.
Averescu only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Averescu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Czarzsa is rocked!
Averescu thumps Czarzsa with a low kick.
Oh Czarzsa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Averescu is stalking Czarzsa. Czarzsa circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Averescu, and it's lights out! Czarzsa really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marin Averescu!
