Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yohan Carano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coleman scores with a takedown into Carano's guard.

Coleman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Coleman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Coleman wants to pass the guard but Carano is keeping the position.
Carano is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Coleman has his foot on Carano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carano works his way back into a safe position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carano steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Coleman.
Carano doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Coleman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carano!
Coleman prevents Carano from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coleman is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Carano has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Carano!

Coleman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carano wants to pass the guard but Coleman is keeping the position.

Coleman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carano's guard.
Coleman winds up and cracks Carano with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Coleman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Coleman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Carano!

Coleman fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carano is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Coleman cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Coleman looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Coleman sizes up Carano with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Carano shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Carano is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Coleman is looking to advance position but Carano won't allow it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Coleman lands a nice short elbow.

Coleman is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Coleman extends the arm and Carano is forced to tap!
