Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Henry's choice of entrance music: Unashamed. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as John Henry enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henry keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Henry swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Henry misses with a head kick.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Henry sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Henry. Smith defending well as Henry loads up on a big left hand. Smith tries for a takedown but Henry circles away easily and Henry counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice cross by Smith. Henry on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Smith. Henry lands a left and a right that send Smith crashing to the mat, dazed. Henry thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Smith is rocked! Henry goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jab from Henry. Henry drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Henry swinging wildly here.
Smith seems to have got his legs back now. Henry loads up on a big right hand but Smith slips the punch. Smith misses the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries for a takedown but Henry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Smith throws a low kick but Henry moves out of range easily. A decent looking cross lands there for Smith. Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard. Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Henry works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Smith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Henry is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Henry is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Henry with a flurry of punches that miss. Henry landing with the ground and pound. Smith working a defensive guard here.
Henry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Henry seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Henry trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry preventing the sweep. Smith is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Henry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Henry misses with an uppercut. Smith was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Henry moves away. Henry misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Henry dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Smith lands a nice looking body kick. No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. Henry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away. Henry takes one to the chin there. Henry has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith throws a low kick, looking for Henry's leg but Henry calmly moves out of range. Henry fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Smith lands a two punch combo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith missing with a left hand there. Henry was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little jabbing left from Henry on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Henry misses with a body kick. Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Henry looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Henry tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on Henry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Henry tries to improve position but can't. Smith is looking to take a break and control but Henry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Henry taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Henry is trying to improve his position. Smith staying calm. Henry dodges the ground and pound from Smith. Smith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Henry has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Henry can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Henry takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Smith scoring with punches and elbows. Smith cracks Henry with an elbow. That is naaassty. Henry manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Smith regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Henry. Smith keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully. Henry slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry chips away with some ground and pound. Henry trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Henry controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Henry missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Henry throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it. Smith jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Jimmy Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith throws a wild body kick that Henry sees coming a mile off. Henry throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily. Good shot there by Henry.

Smith throws a hook to the side of Henry's head but Henry sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Henry lands a jab to the nose. Henry tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Henry drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Henry is looking for the KO!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith throws a big shot that misses. Henry uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith. Henry tests Smith's chin there with a solid looking shot. Henry misses with a straight right. Smith motions for Henry to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Smith staying out of range there. Henry takes one to the chin there. Smith shoots and misses and Henry cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Smith!
Smith throws a big shot that misses. Smith tests Henry's chin there with a solid looking shot. Good shot there by Henry. Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Henry throws out a counter right but Smith avoids it with no problem. Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Smith fails with an attempt to clinch.
Henry moves out of range as Smith strikes. Henry throws a counter combo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Henry throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it. Henry comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Henry pushes Smith away with a front kick. Smith cracks a nice hook into Henry's ribs. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Henry scores with a nice right hand.
Smith swings widly with a right hand
enabling Henry to counter with a crisp jab. Smith with a poor takedown and Henry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that's the end of the fight! John Henry comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Henry has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
