PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AC Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Brandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slater comes to the cage accompanied by Stop What Ya Doin. Brandon has chosen Life Is Beautiful as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AC Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Junior Brandon!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandon scores with a sloppy right hand. Slater should have avoided that one.
A left lands for Slater.
Nice body kick from Brandon.
Junior Brandon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brandon tries for a takedown but Slater circles away easily
and Slater counters with a straight right hand.
Brandon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Slater avoids it really well and circles away.
A lazy left from Brandon finds it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slater is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Junior Brandon has been cut.
Slater blocks a low kick nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brandon has Slater up against the cage in a clinch.
Brandon goes for a takedown attempt but Slater pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
AC Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Brandon.
Brandon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Slater pinned against the cage. Slater gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Slater shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brandon sprawls well. Brandon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Slater gets slowly back to his feet.

Slater gets tackled into the cage by Brandon. Brandon maintains the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brandon creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Slater breaks the clinch.
Brandon moves to clinch but Slater breaks away
and Slater counters with a one-two to the body.
Brandon doesn't manage to clinch there - Slater circles away.
Brandon tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Slater counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Brandon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Slater defends well and Brandon ends up having to push Slater into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Slater gets a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slater content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brandon is looking to control Slater's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brandon avoid being mounted?
We've been hearing that Slater has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Brandon wants to get back to full guard.
Brandon has his hands clasped together around Slater's back. He's all about the action.
Slater thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brandon's head.
Brandon is refusing to be controlled, as Slater sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Slater is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Brandon is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brandon scores with a few weak punches.
Brandon is not content to let Slater control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Slater takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Brandon is staying active underneath Slater, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AC Slater dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Junior Brandon's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Slater lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Slater.
Brandon has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Slater lands with an overhand left.
Brandon with a poor takedown
and Slater scores with a counter punch that sends Brandon to the canvas! Slater smells blood - he's punishing Brandon with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Brandon has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). AC Slater!
During a confident post fight interview, AC Slater thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
