Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erno Bajza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Digby Smith! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a body shot but no joy. Bajza throws a hook but Smith avoids it easily. Smith counters with a body kick. Crunch! Smith slams his shin into Bajza's torso. Bajza misses with a looping left. A little jabbing left from Smith on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Bajza misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smith.
Smith scores with a jab. Bajza acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Smith walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Smith swinging wildly here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bajza chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Bajza lands with an overhand left. Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bajza can pounce on him.
Smith throws the kick towards the body but Bajza avoids it. Smith throws a nice inside leg kick. Bajza shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bajza was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Bajza tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Bajza sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Smith is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bajza fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bajza controls the position. Smith manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bajza's best efforts. Bajza scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Bajza content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Smith is in trouble now - Bajza has advanced to mount! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bajza postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Smith looks a forlorn figure.
Smith is still in real trouble! Can Bajza finish him? Bajza looking to control but Smith is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Smith seems to have recovered his senses. Smith misses with a wild body shot. Bajza shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Bajza takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bajza drops down looking for a counter takedown but Smith sprawls and moves away. Smith throws a body punch but Bajza moves out of range. Bajza changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. and Bajza counters with a lovely straight right hand! Bajza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smith counters with a two punch combo. Digby Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bajza throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily. Smith takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Smith blocks a low kick nicely. Smith looks like he wants to counter punch here. Smith throws a poor cross that misses
and Bajza counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bajza. Bajza content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bajza working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Erno Bajza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bajza's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bajza wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Bajza stands up over Smith, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bajza scoring with some ground and pound. Bajza connects with a couple of short punches. Smith working a defensive guard here.
Smith has momentary wrist control but Bajza slips an elbow through the middle. Bajza trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bajza lands a couple of decent looking shots. We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Bajza is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Bajza missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bajza controls from within his opponent's guard. Bajza is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Bajza has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bajza seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bajza landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Bajza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around? Smith is trying to maintain the position but Bajza is very close to passing his half guard. Smith is trying to defend but Bajza finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bajza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bajza connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple.
