Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lin Shui! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Crose McCringe! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCringe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. McCringe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shui's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shui looking to control.
Shui keeping moving, preventing McCringe from controlling successfully. McCringe postures up in Shui's guard and throws a big left but Shui blocks it. Shui had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCringe defends it easily. Shui is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCringe wants to get back to full guard. McCringe wants to control but Shui is keeping busy and won't allow it. Shui has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McCringe defend it? Shui steps over the head and cranks it - McCringe is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Shui!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lin Shui! In his post fight interview, Lin Shui started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
