PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raijin Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lil Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kage comes to the cage accompanied by Ride the Lightning. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raijin Kage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lil Jon!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kage tries to close the distance and clinch but Jon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kage misses with a wild body shot.
Jon looks to land a combination but Kage avoids it well.
Kage tries to clinch up.
Kage throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kage fails to land the takedown.
Raijin Kage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jon uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kage has time to react.
Jon misses with a looping left.
Jon darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kage throws a shot to the body.

Jon jabs Kage to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kage keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kage misses with a double jab.
Kage throws a body shot but no joy.

Jon lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jon misses with a hook. Kage ducked under it nicely.
Jon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kage.

Jon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kage to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kage is fighting to break Jon's control of his arms but Jon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Jon is pulling down on Kage's head. It's preventing any offense from Kage, at least for the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kage walks away with a smile on his face. Jon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Raijin Kage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lil Jon.

Jon on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jon keeps the fight on the outside.
Kage jabs at Jon's body.
Kage throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jon's head.
Jon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kage lands a glancing blow to the side of Jon's head.
Jon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kage.
Kage appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Jon takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kage shoots for a takedown but Jon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kage throws a sloppy head kick and Jon moves out of range easily.
Kage lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kage postures up in Jon's guard and throws a big left but Jon blocks it.
We've been hearing good reports from Kage's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Jon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jon wants to sweep but no luck.
Kage throws a big elbow that misses.
Kage sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jon's guard.

Lil Jon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A good leg kick by Kage.
Jon paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Jon stuffs the takedown attempt from Kage. Kage gets slowly back to his feet.
Kage throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kage is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jon can do to turn this around?

Jon wants to hit a switch here but Kage passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jon there!
Kage cracks Jon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kage misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kage postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jon looks a forlorn figure.

Jon wants to hold on but Kage pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kage trying to control but Jon is having none of it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kage cracks Jon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jon sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kage is nestled in close to Jon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kage looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jon is positioning himself well to prevent Kage advancing to mount.
Jon won't allow Kage to pass to mount.

The fighters are battling for position here. Jon manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Raijin Kage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jon wants to get back to his feet but Kage is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kage clinches up with Jon and pushes him back against the cage.
Kage has a couple of punches blocked by Jon.
Kage tries a body shot but Jon blocks it.
Kage misses with a punch to the body.
Kage is defending well against a takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kage creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Kage has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jon regains guard immediately.

Kage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jon pulls Kage in close to prevent any damage.
Kage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kage wants to pass the guard but Jon is keeping the position.
Kage trying to control the position from guard on top but Jon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kage passes Jon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kage throwing shots but Jon is blocking nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kage is thwarting Jon's attempts to control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kage connects with a nice short shot to Jon's temple.
Kage lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jon keeps working.

Raijin Kage showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kage has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
