Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Lancaster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zeus Ricker! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lancaster fails with a takedown attempt. Ricker clinches up against the cage. Ricker is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lancaster is defending well. Ricker has Lancaster pushed against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lancaster takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Ricker breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lancaster dives in and grabs Ricker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ricker pushes down on Lancaster's head and hops out. Ricker fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ricker lunges at Lancaster with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lancaster's hand.
It looks like Pedro Lancaster has been cut. Ricker with a lazy takedown attempt and Lancaster counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lancaster. Ricker fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pedro Lancaster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeus Ricker. Ricker tries to pull guard but Lancaster forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Knees to the body from Ricker.
Ricker gets control of Lancaster's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ricker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ricker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lancaster manages to get himself to full guard.
Lancaster is looking to stand up but Ricker isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lancaster wriggles free and stands up. This has been an exciting period of action! Ricker misses with a jab to the body
and Lancaster counters with a series of strikes. Ricker will be more careful next time no doubt. A momentary lapse in concentration from Ricker enables Lancaster to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ricker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ricker has momentary wrist control but Lancaster slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ricker looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Lancaster scoring with some ground and pound. Lancaster trying to control the position from guard on top but Ricker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lancaster prevents Ricker from getting back to his feet. Ricker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lancaster postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Ricker looking for a sweep. Not yet Ricker, not yet. Ricker working a defensive guard but Lancaster manages to pass into side control anyway.
Lancaster working the body and head with strikes. Ricker tries to improve position but can't. A lull in the action here as Lancaster stalls from top position. Ricker tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Lancaster presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Lancaster could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lancaster is landing with some decent strikes but Ricker is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ricker takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Lancaster lands a big elbow. Lancaster looking to finish Ricker with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ricker! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lancaster controlling from mount. Lancaster cracks Ricker with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Lancaster fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ricker to the ground. Lancaster is now in Ricker's guard. Pedro Lancaster overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lancaster working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Ricker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lancaster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ricker keeps working. Lancaster landing strikes. Lancaster lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lancaster looks up at the clock and then as Ricker takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lancaster smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ricker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lancaster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ricker tries to strike but it doesn't land. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lancaster lands an elbow.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ricker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lancaster pinned against the cage. Lancaster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Lancaster scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Ricker on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Lancaster seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lancaster connects with a nice short shot to Ricker's temple. Ricker is looking to get back to full guard here but Lancaster has managed to pass to side control instead. Ricker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
