PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anibal Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Keenan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anibal Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Keenan!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keenan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Keenan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dennis counters with a left and a right that stings Keenan.
Keenan throws a lazy head kick
and Dennis counters with a thumping low kick.

Dennis pushes Keenan up against the cage in a clinch.

Dennis pulls guard.
Keenan tries to stand but Dennis is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keenan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Keenan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dennis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Dennis kicks Keenan off and gets to his feet.
Keenan throws a sloppy head kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Keenan misses with a combination
and Dennis counters with a left and a right that stings Keenan.
Keenan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Keenan throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Keenan.

Dennis has managed to clinch.

Dennis jumps guard.
Dennis pulls Keenan in close to his closed guard and prevents Keenan from doing any damage or advancing position.
Dennis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Keenan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dennis keeping full guard, as Keenan tries to pass.

Dennis has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Keenan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Keenan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Dennis regains guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dennis is looking to stand up but Keenan isn't so interested in that idea.

Dennis has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Keenan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Dennis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Keenan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dennis to the mat. Dennis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Dennis pushes Keenan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Keenan looks winded!
Keenan misses with a head kick.
Keenan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Keenan throws a lazy head kick
and Dennis counters with a solid body kick.
Keenan throws a head kick that misses.
Dennis is looking for a counter combo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dennis closes the distance and pushes Keenan back into the cage.
Dennis misses with a knee strike.

Dennis jumps into guard, dragging Keenan to the mat.
Dennis managing to control the position.
Keenan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dennis is pulling down on Keenan's head. It's preventing any offense from Keenan, at least for the moment.
Keenan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Dennis scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Keenan throws a series of punches but Dennis moves out of range.
Keenan misses with a hook. Dennis ducked under it nicely.
Keenan throws a lazy body kick

and Dennis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dennis.
Dennis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Keenan pulls Dennis into guard.
Dennis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dennis lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dennis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Keenan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Dennis gets to his feet. Keenan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anibal Dennis dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Keenan throws a nice looking combination but Dennis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Keenan scores with a nice body kick.
Keenan digs a good body shot into Dennis's ribs.
Keenan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Anibal Dennis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Keenan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dennis if he has to take too many more of those.
Keenan throws a head kick but Dennis moves out of range.
Dennis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Keenan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Dennis avoids the head kick by Keenan.
It looked like Dennis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Sean Keenan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keenan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dennis thinks about countering with a body kick.
A head kick misses from Keenan.
A lazy body kick from Keenan
and Dennis counters with a two punch combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dennis closes the distance and clinches.
Dennis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Keenan can do to turn this around?
Dennis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Keenan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Dennis pulls Keenan into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dennis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Keenan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Dennis jumps guard but Keenan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Dennis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Keenan smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anibal Dennis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Keenan throws a lazy head kick
and Dennis counters with a one-two to the body.

Keenan lands a big head kick that sends Dennis tumbling to the mat! Keenan takes a step backwards and waves Dennis back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Anibal Dennis has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Keenan throws a sloppy head kick and Dennis moves out of range easily.
Dennis throws a wild hook but Keenan just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Dennis gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Keenan raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sean Keenan!
