Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Geraldo Mathews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scoobie Ge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geraldo Mathews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scoobie Ge!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ge closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mathews is looking to reverse the position.
Ge controls the position.

Ge stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ge closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mathews's guard.

Mathews pushes Ge off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mathews gets caught flat footed, as Ge shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ge wants to control from the top but Mathews keeps moving.
Mathews wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Mathews is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ge is controlling him.
Ge controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Mathews is staying active underneath Ge, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mathews tries to get to full guard but Ge has control of the leg.

Ge wants to work for an arm triangle but Mathews is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mathews showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ge.
Mathews appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Ge clinches up against the cage.

Ge decides to pull guard.

Mathews loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Ge might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mathews haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mathews has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ge throws a body kick that misses

so Mathews counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ge has momentary wrist control but Mathews slips an elbow through the middle.
Mathews postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ge is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mathews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mathews lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ge looking for a sweep. Not yet Ge, not yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mathews landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mathews's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Geraldo Mathews will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mathews's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ge shoots in and bounces Mathews off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ge stands and steps away. Mathews gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ge gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ge's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Mathews counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mathews is trying to break the clinch but Ge is controlling him.
Mathews has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mathews tries to pull guard but Ge forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ge wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mathews is now in half guard.

Ge wants to control but Mathews passes easily into half guard.
Ge tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Mathews has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Geraldo Mathews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mathews postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ge looks a forlorn figure.
Ge is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mathews lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Ge tries to lock up and control but Mathews gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ge wants to get back to his feet.
Ge is in all sorts of trouble here.

Ge is breathing heavily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Mathews shoots for a double leg takedown but Ge sprawls well. He's pushed Mathews's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ge closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mathews to the mat! Mathews manages to get full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee warns Ge that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mathews, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
