Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gudmundur Magnusson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Georges! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Magnusson. Georges looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Magnusson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Georges seems a little lost for a moment, as Magnusson dominates the positioning. Magnusson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Georges for as long as he can get away with. Georges wants to control but Magnusson postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Georges takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Magnusson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Georges has escaped the position, nice work there. Magnusson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Magnusson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Magnusson is trying to get an arm triangle but Georges is defending well. Magnusson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Magnusson decides to stand back up. Magnusson steps back and let's Georges get back to his feet. Magnusson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Georges on the wrong end of a nice jab. Georges throws a hook but Magnusson avoids it easily. Georges lands a nice shot to the body.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Magnusson. Georges takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Georges is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Magnusson happy to just control the position for now. Magnusson is trying to get an arm triangle but Georges is defending well. Georges looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Magnusson in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Georges is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
