Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Carlsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Havard Batern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Havard Batern!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Batern clinches.
Batern can't get the takedown.
Batern is looking to break free of the clinch but Carlsen has double underhooks.
Carlsen lands a body punch in the clinch.
Carlsen throws a head punch that misses.
Carlsen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Carlsen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Batern is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carlsen to keep the fight standing.
Carlsen struggles to land a body shot inside as Batern controls his hands.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Carlsen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Batern takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Batern closes the distance and pushes Carlsen back into the cage.

Carlsen gets underhooks to prevent Batern's takedown attempt.

Batern is trying to drag Carlsen to the mat but Carlsen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Steve Carlsen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carlsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carlsen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Batern closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carlsen circles away.
Batern gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Carlsen.

Carlsen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carlsen.

Batern tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Carlsen turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Batern is rocked!
Batern tries for a takedown but Carlsen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carlsen thuds a left hand into Batern's body.
Batern throws a wild body kick that Carlsen sees coming a mile off.
Carlsen appears to be looking for a big counter.
Carlsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Batern takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nice shot lands for Carlsen.
Carlsen lands with a hook. Batern tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Batern is still on wobbly legs! Can Carlsen finish him?
Carlsen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Batern is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Batern seems to have recovered his senses.

Batern drops his hands momentarily and Carlsen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Batern darts in and clinches Carlsen up against the cage.

Carlsen is trying to push Batern away but Batern has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Batern can't break the clinch.
Carlsen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Batern has Carlsen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carlsen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Batern looks winded!
Carlsen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Carlsen misses with a short punch on the inside.

Carlsen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carlsen stuffs the takedown attempt from Batern. Batern gets slowly back to his feet.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carlsen, right into the meat.
Batern looks for a takedown but Carlsen sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Batern has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Carlsen.
Batern shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carlsen defends it nicely.

and Batern takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Carlsen throws a head punch that misses.

Carlsen breaks the clinch.
Carlsen connects with a crisp jab.
Carlsen throws a sloppy head kick and Batern moves out of range easily.

Batern closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Carlsen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Batern's elbow.
Carlsen wants to break free but Batern has control.

Batern jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carlsen walks away with a smile on his face. Batern gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Batern blocks a body shot from Carlsen.
Carlsen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Batern blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Batern misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carlsen.
Batern displaying some good clinch control by pressing Carlsen up against the cage.
Batern is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carlsen is defending well for now.

Carlsen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carlsen moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Carlsen connects with a body shot.
Batern doesn't manage to clinch there - Carlsen circles away.

Batern slips a jab and a cross from Carlsen.

Carlsen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Batern can do to turn this around?

Batern is breathing heavily.

Batern dives in and grabs Carlsen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carlsen pushes down on Batern's head and hops out.

Carlsen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Batern doesn't seem bothered though.
Batern is trying desperately to land a takedown but Carlsen is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Batern.

Carlsen scores with a head kick. Batern tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Carlsen connects with a high kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Batern shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlsen connects with a body shot that sends Batern's belly button to the back.

Batern tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carlsen defends well and Batern ends up having to push Carlsen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Carlsen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlsen lands with a slapping head kick.

Batern takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carlsen lands a brutal head kick. Batern looks out on his feet and Carlsen throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
