Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sewy Cide! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Colin McLauhglin! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLauhglin throws a series of punches but Cide moves out of range. Cide's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McLauhglin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cide scrambles back to his feet. Cide goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from McLauhglin! But no joy. McLauhglin throws an overhand right that lands on Cide's shoulder, as Cide tries to avoid the shot. McLauhglin swats away the attempt to clinch by Cide. McLauhglin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Cide ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Cide misses with a double jab
and McLauhglin counters with a nice uppercut. We've been informed that McLauhglin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. McLauhglin dodges the punch combination from Cide.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cide jabs McLauhglin right on the nose. McLauhglin blinks but takes it well. Cide tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McLauhglin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A little jabbing left from McLauhglin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Cide throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cide throws a leg kick and McLauhglin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cide swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cide looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Cide displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McLauhglin throws out the jab. McLauhglin connects with a jab. McLauhglin lands with a hook. Cide tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Cide tries to clinch there but McLauhglin circles away.
Sewy Cide is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McLauhglin with a body punch. A glancing blow. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cide. Cide slips under a jab from McLauhglin. Cide is looking to counter with a shot to the body. A jab from McLauhglin does it's job there.
It looks like Sewy Cide has been cut. Cide uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McLauhglin.
Cide seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. McLauhglin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. BOOM! McLauhglin lands a beautiful left hook that drops Cide. Cide tries to recover but McLauhglin is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Cide lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Colin McLauhglin! Colin McLauhglin decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
