Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vince Buhcannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacques Cousteau! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buhcannon shoots in for a double leg but Cousteau sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Cousteau doesn't succeed with the takedown and Buhcannon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cousteau's guard now. Cousteau wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Buhcannon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Cousteau looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cousteau looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Buhcannon wants to stand but Cousteau has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Buhcannon gets to his feet - Cousteau follows without any prompting. Nice body punch from Buhcannon. Cousteau looks gassed! Buhcannon shoots and misses so Cousteau counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Buhcannon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Buhcannon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buhcannon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cousteau drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cousteau jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Buhcannon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cousteau can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cousteau trying to control but Buhcannon is working from the bottom. Buhcannon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cousteau's guard. Cousteau looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cousteau is striking from the bottom but Buhcannon uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cousteau tries to roll over but Buhcannon keeps him under control. Buhcannon trying to pass the guard but Cousteau defending well. Buhcannon trying to control the action but Cousteau is working from the bottom. Cousteau is trying to get back to full guard. Cousteau looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cousteau has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Buhcannon. Oh but Cousteau has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Buhcannon goes limp - he's gone! Cousteau jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
