Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eduardo Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 1, fighting out of London, Konrad Koltun!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koltun loads up on a big right hand but Alvarez slips the punch.
Alvarez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Koltun looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Koltun misses the shot to the body.
Koltun throws a nice looking combination but Alvarez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alvarez tried to counter with a leg kick but Koltun avoided it.
Koltun throws a leg kick but Alvarez checks it.
Alvarez scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Koltun pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Koltun looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Alvarez clinches up against the cage.
Alvarez trying to control the position but instead, Koltun has worked for underhooks and has pushed Alvarez into the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvarez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Alvarez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Koltun prevents it.

Alvarez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Alvarez manages to end up in side control.

Alvarez is trying to get an arm triangle but Koltun is defending well.

Koltun stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvarez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alvarez trying to keep a closed guard but Koltun is proving a slippery customer.

Koltun is working Alvarez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Alvarez drops back looking for a leg! Koltun is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Koltun manages to kick Alvarez off! Alvarez jumps back into Koltun's guard.

Alvarez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Koltun can do to turn this around?

Koltun throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alvarez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A punch lands to the side of Koltun 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Alvarez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
No joy there for Alvarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alvarez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Koltun stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Alvarez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Alvarez counters with a takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alvarez tries to advance to mount but Koltun denies him.
Koltun tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Koltun is not content to let Alvarez control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Koltun makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Koltun.

Alvarez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Koltun for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Koltun tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Alvarez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Alvarez moves in looking to clinch but Koltun pushes him off.
Alvarez catches Koltun with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Koltun ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alvarez moves away.

Konrad Koltun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koltun throws a jab but it's blocked by Alvarez.
Alvarez cracks Koltun with a right hand to the side of the head.
Alvarez ducks under a wild hook from Koltun.

Alvarez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alvarez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Koltun doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alvarez.

Alvarez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koltun has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alvarez has managed to get both his arms back between Koltun's legs - danger averted.
Alvarez won't allow Koltun to sweep him here.
Alvarez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Alvarez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Koltun is trying to defend but Alvarez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Alvarez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Koltun is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
