Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maro Veljanovski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abbas Shahriari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Veljanovski has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Maro Veljanovski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Abbas Shahriari! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Veljanovski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Veljanovski is breathing heavily. Shahriari lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Maro Veljanovski has been cut. Veljanovski gets caught flat footed, as Shahriari shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Shahriari is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shahriari pushing down on Veljanovski's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shahriari keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. It looks like Shahriari might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Shahriari manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Veljanovski on his heels. He'll look to pass Veljanovski's guard now, I'm sure. Shahriari is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Shahriari scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shahriari works his way into side control. A lull in the action here as Shahriari stalls from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abbas Shahriari dominated that round. The cut man is working on Maro Veljanovski's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Shahriari shoots in and bounces Veljanovski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Veljanovski keeping full guard, as Shahriari tries to pass. Shahriari has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Shahriari slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shahriari stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Veljanovski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Shahriari seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shahriari slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Shahriari happy to just control the position for now. Shahriari passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Veljanovski!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shahriari takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Let's hope that Shahriari has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abbas Shahriari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Maro Veljanovski's cut. That's time! Veljanovski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Shahriari gets a double leg takedown into Veljanovski's guard. Veljanovski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shahriari controls the pace. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Shahriari's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Shahriari looking to score a takedown here. Veljanovski is defending well but Shahriari drives through and ends up in Veljanovski's guard. Shahriari is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. More stalling from Shahriari. Shahriari with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shahriari passes Veljanovski's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Shahriari looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Shahriari works his foot free and advances to mount. Veljanovski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Veljanovski tries to get out of the position. Shahriari controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Veljanovski stops Shahriari from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Shahriari controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Abbas Shahriari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Shahriari has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
