DFC 29: Turner Vs Johns PBP Commentary |
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns throws a series of punches but Turner moves out of range.
Danga de danga de dang - Johns scores with a four punch combination!
Johns tries to clinch but Turner is having none of it.
Turner circles away from the clinch attempt.
Turner attempts a counter takedown but Johns avoids it well and moves away.
La'Von Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner dives in and grabs Johns's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johns pushes down on Turner's head and hops out.
Turner looks to throw the jab but Johns is out of range.
Turner shoots in looking for a takedown but Johns manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Turner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
It seemed like Johns was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Turner feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johnss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Turner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johns's half guard.
Johns is trying to stand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johns is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Johns is in trouble now - Turner has advanced to mount!

Turner seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Johns for as long as he can get away with.
