The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooh a lovely combination from Davis sends Whistler down but not out. Davis dives into side control looking to finish.
It looks like John Whistler has been cut.
Whistler looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Davis stands up.
A nice combination there by Davis.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis drops Whistler with a right and a left! Davis comes rushing in but Whistler regains his composure and manages to keep Davis in guard.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Davis tries to stand but Whistler is controlling from the bottom.
Davis stays in close to Whistler's body and controls the position.
Davis stands up and waves to Whistler to follow him.

Whistler takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Davis clinches up with Whistler and pushes him back against the cage.

Whistler prevents Davis from breaking the clinch.
Davis manages to break the clinch.
Davis darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Davis is working the combinations to good effect here.
Davis lands a jab to the head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Davis digs a good hook to Whistler's body.
Whistler on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Davis. Davis obviously looking to wear him down.

Oh Whistler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Davis jabs Whistler right on the nose. Whistler blinks but takes it well.
Davis connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Whistler tumbling to the canvas! Davis pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Whistler was done - good stoppage!
