The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rainier pinned against the cage. Rainier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ryan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rainier manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ryan has Rainier in his guard.
Ryan has his foot on Rainier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rainier works his way back into a safe position though.
Ryan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rainier is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ryan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rainier's back instead.
Ryan looking to break Rainier's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Rainier remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ryan will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
