Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shoryu Ken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shoryu Ken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Al Simmons! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ken scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ken looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ken is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Simmons has managed to free his arm - good work. Simmons is defending against the submission attempts here by Ken.
Ken wants to pass the guard but Simmons is defending well. Ken is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons wants to control but Ken is keeping busy and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice strikes from Ken there. Ken trying to mount his opponent but Simmons defends it. Ken trying to control the pace. Ken prevents Simmons from improving his position. Ken is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Simmons!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ken is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Simmons can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Simmons is trying desperately to improve position. Ken could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ken lands a heavy elbow. Ken is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Simmons is surviving well by controlling Ken's body position as best he can. Ken goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Simmons is on top in guard.
Ken is breathing heavily. Simmons looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simmons trying to control the position from guard on top but Ken is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ken looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Simmons passes into half guard.
Ken wants to control but Simmons is keeping busy.
Ken is looking for a sweep. Simmons is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Simmons moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Ken. Ken tries to bench press Simmons off him but Simmons keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ken gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Simmons decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Simmons scores with a spinning back kick! Ken scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Simmons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ken is trying to work for a kimura but Simmons is defending well.
Ken prevents Simmons from improving his position. Ken tries to pass to full mount but Simmons defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shoryu Ken dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Ken takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Ken takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Simmons cracks a nice hook into Ken's ribs. Simmons lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Ken looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Simmons! Ken is working for a guillotine from mount but Simmons frees his head quite easily.
Simmons is looking to get to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ken with a couple of short strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons is wriggling around trying to escape.
Simmons tries to lock up and control but Ken gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ken is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ken extends the arm and Simmons is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shoryu Ken!
