Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rice Pilaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pilaf's choice of entrance music: chinese rap. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Hand! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rice Pilaf! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pilaf throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hand avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pilaf fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hand scores with a nice strike. Pilaf thows a left - swing and a miss! Pilaf takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pilaf misses with a takedown attempt - Hand sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A big left from Pilaf misses. Pilaf tries to keep at a distance but Hand has taken the fight into the clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Pilaf fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Dan Hand has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rice Pilaf. Hand scores with a nice hook to the head. Hand presses Pilaf against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Pilaf trying to control the position but instead, Hand has worked for underhooks and has pushed Pilaf into the cage. Pilaf's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Pilaf pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hand staying out of range there. Pilaf fails to land the takedown. Pilaf looks gassed! Hand lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hand. Pilaf slips under a jab from Hand. Hand has closed the distance and engaged Pilaf in a clinch.

Pilaf changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hand tries to avoid it but Pilaf manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hand to the ground. Hand escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pilaf shoots for a takedown but Hand saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hand tries to clinch but Pilaf is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pilaf fails to land the takedown. Hand scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hand ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hand drives through and clinches with Pilaf against the cage.
Hand breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pilaf shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hand lands a body shot.
Hand gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hand throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pilafs head. Hand scores with an uppercut up the middle. Hand pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pilaf shoots in but Hand avoids the takedown attempt easily. Pilaf walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Horrible takedown by Pilaf or perhaps it was just good defense by Hand which made him look bad. Some wild striking there from Hand.

Hand looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. No luck for Pilaf with that takedown attempt. Hand lands an overhand right. Hand fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pilaf, pushing him back against the cage. Pilaf jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hand walks away with a smile on his face. Pilaf gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Hand misses with a wild body shot. Pilaf misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Pilaf looks to throw the jab but Hand is out of range. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hand punishes Pilaf's body with a nice straight punch. A left lands for Hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hand scores with a jab. Pilaf acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Rice Pilaf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hand throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A big left from Pilaf misses. Pilaf fails to land the takedown. Hand falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pilaf counters with a shoot takedown. Hand fights it but they end up in guard. Hand keeping full guard, as Pilaf tries to pass. Pilaf wants to control from the top but Hand keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pilaf in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hand being controlled here, momentarily. Pilaf preventing the sweep. Pilaf works over Hand with some ground and pound from guard. Pilaf advances to half guard. Hand wants to improve his position but Pilaf is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pilaf wants to work for an arm triangle but Hand is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pilaf throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pilaf passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hand! Hand is working to get back to half guard.
Hand taking shots to the head. Pilaf raining down shots from the mount! Pilaf working for a guillotine from mount but Hand is in no mood to give up. Hand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pilaf on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pilaf jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hand manages to avoid the submission attempt. Hand gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Pilaf passes the guard and advances to mount! Pilaf has hold of Hand's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hand manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pilaf goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hand is on top in guard.
Hand works a leg free and moves into half guard. Pilaf is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hand scores with a couple of nice shots. Hand wants to stand but Pilaf has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Pilaf wants to improve his position but Hand is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rice Pilaf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

"Ole!" shouts Hand as he jumps to the side. Hand is looking to wear down Pilaf with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hand throws a series of strikes that have Pilaf backpedaling.

Pilaf shoots in and drives through. Hand sprawls well. Pilaf tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hand swivels and escapes. Hand with a hook. Hand scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Hand scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pilaf doesn't seem bothered though. Pilaf gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hand tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Hand lands an overhand right. Hand gets caught flat footed, as Pilaf shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hand looking for a sweep. Not yet Hand, not yet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pilaf trying to control the position from guard on top but Hand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hand wants to hit a switch here but Pilaf passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hand there!
