Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ury Dikunov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kshau Nish! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dikunov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dikunov working some strikes from top position. Dikunov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Dikunov passes Nish's left leg - he's now in half guard. Dikunov sitting and controlling from the half guard. Dikunov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nish for as long as he can get away with. Dikunov scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
It looks like Kshau Nish has been cut. Dikunov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Well, if Dikunov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dikunov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dikunov scores with a big shot! Nish's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Nish! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ury Dikunov! Ury Dikunov tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
