PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eric Draven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elias Lyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Draven kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dead Souls. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Elias Lyon enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Draven lands a front kick.
Draven looks to throw a body kick

and Lyon counters with a single leg into guard. Draven didn't expect that.
Draven wants to get back to his feet but Lyon passes into half guard.

Lyon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lyon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Draven with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Draven is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lyon scores with a couple of nice shots.

Draven is controlling Lyon's trapped leg to prevent Lyon from advancing to side control.

Draven knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lyon on the ground.

Lyon creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Draven sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Draven pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Draven throws out a leg kick but Lyon moves out of range and Draven only half commits.

Lyon loads up on a big right hand but Draven slips the punch.
Lyon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Draven closes the distance and clinches.
Lyon is trying to pull guard but Draven has him pressed against the cage.
Lyon goes for a takedown attempt but Draven pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Lyon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Draven has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Let's hope that Lyon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
