PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Warren Hawke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Behring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Warren Hawke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Behring!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Behring fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jab from Hawke.
Behring tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Behring takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ian Behring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Behring lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hawke has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hawke and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Hawke has been working on his boxing with his coaches at England Fight Club MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Hawke dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Behring. That did some damage!

Behring closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hawke circles away.
Hawke takes a swing at Behring's ribcage but misses.

Behring shoots in for a takedown but Hawke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Behring chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hawke can pounce on him.

Hawke ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hawke lands a jab to the nose.

It looks like Ian Behring has been cut.
Behring tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Hawke pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hawke clobbers Behring with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawke turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A slow jab from Behring misses its intended target.
Behring looks to throw the jab but Hawke is out of range.
Hawke tried to counter with a leg kick but Behring avoided it.

Nice sprawl there from Hawke as Behring shoots in.
Hawke feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Hawke checks a leg kick nicely.
Hawke appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Behring shoots for a takedown but Hawke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Behring sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hawke blocks a jab.
Hawke tried to counter with a leg kick but Behring avoided it.
Warren Hawke is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Behring has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hawke.
Hawke fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Behring has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Behring shoots in looking for a takedown but Hawke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Behring's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Hawke counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Hawke swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hawke lands with a thumping leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hawke.
Behring looks for a takedown but Hawke sprawls well.
Behring has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hawke.
Hawke fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Behring avoids the body shot from Hawke.
Behring tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Behring dives in and grabs Hawke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawke pushes down on Behring's head and hops out.
Hawke throws a quick counter head kick but Behring was just out of range.

We've been informed that Behring has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Behring shoots for a takedown but Hawke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hawke fires out a quick counter leg kick but Behring just manages to avoid it.

Behring darts in looking for a takedown but Hawke gets double underhooks and turns Behring into the cage.
Behring shoots in but Hawke avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Behring misses with a right hand
and Hawke makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Hawke takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Behring fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hawke avoids it really well and circles away.

Hawke lands a big head kick that sends Behring tumbling to the mat! Hawke takes a step backwards and waves Behring back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Behring is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Behring.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hawke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Good leg kick by Hawke there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hawke feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Behring's calf.
Behring on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Behring throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hawke sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Hawke cracks the inside of Behring's front leg.
Behring thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hawke fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Behring.
Hawke scores with a nice head shot.
Behring takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Behring is still on wobbly legs! Can Hawke finish him?
Hawke lands a nice leg kick that just misses Behring's sensitive parts.
Behring shoots in for a double leg but Hawke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Behring seems to have recovered his senses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A slapping leg kick lands for Hawke.
Hawke works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Behring might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Hawke has got the better of the exchanges.
Hawke dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Behring. That did some damage!

Behring swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hawke was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Warren Hawke is winning the standup battle so far.
Hawke uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Behring.

Behring shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hawke pinned against the cage. Hawke gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hawke is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Behring looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Behring is keen to just control but Hawke is a slippery customer.

Hawke is concentrating on defense, preventing Behring from advancing position.

Behring wants to work for an arm triangle but Hawke is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hawke is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Behring tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawke swivels and escapes.
Hawke misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Behring.

Behring tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hawke defends well and Behring ends up having to push Hawke into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hawke goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Behring has gone for a leg lock! Hawke slips out almost immediately though and dives into Behring's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawke passes Behring's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Behring is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hawke pulls his head out easily.
Hawke moves nicely into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Behring manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are battling for position here. Hawke manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ian Behring has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hawke keeping moving, preventing Behring from controlling successfully.
Hawke has Behring pulled in close to control his posture.
Behring wants to control from the top but Hawke keeps moving.
Behring tries to free his leg and advance position but Hawke is retaining full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hawke is on top in guard.


Behring isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hawke stacks Behring on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hawke!

Behring is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hawke's half guard.
Warren Hawke is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Behring wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hawke keeps working.
Hawke is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Behring's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Behring's back!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hawke, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
