The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nearns has managed to clinch.
Nearns goes for a takedown in the clinch but Randolph prevents it.
Randolph gets underhooks to prevent Nearns's takedown attempt.
Randolph lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Randolph stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Nearns clinches up with Randolph and pushes him back against the cage.

and Randolph counters with a three punch combo that has Nearns backing up. Nearns nods at Randolph to acknowledge the strikes.
Nearns tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Randolph defends well and Nearns ends up having to push Randolph into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Nearns fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Randolph manages to avoid it.
It looked like Randolph wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Nearns shoots in looking for a takedown. Randolph tries to sprawl out of it but Nearns keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Randolph manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Randolph feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nearns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Randolph postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Nearns has momentary wrist control but Randolph slips an elbow through the middle.
Nearns is working an open guard so Randolph takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Nearns will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Randolph, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
