Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spencer Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Eckert! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eckert moves into range and clinches up with Rivera. Rivera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Eckert gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Eckert must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Eckert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rivera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Eckert has managed to get both his arms back between Rivera's legs - danger averted. Eckert throws an elbow that misses. Rivera uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Eckert's guard. Nice move by Rivera! Eckert looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rivera is one step ahead there. Eckert keeping moving, preventing Rivera from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eckert has his foot on Rivera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rivera works his way back into a safe position though. Rivera trying to control the position from guard on top but Eckert is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Eckert wants to sweep here but Rivera controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eckert throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Eckert is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rivera rolls with it to try and escape but Eckert cranks on the arm and Rivera is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
