Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Fletcher! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Fletcher pushes Hicks off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fighters circling - Fletcher throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hicks gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hicks tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hicks misses with a short punch on the inside. Hicks tries for a takedown but Fletcher manages to get underhooks.
Fletcher breaks from the clinch.
Fletcher darts in and clinches Hicks up against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hicks working Fletcher over with knees to the body. Hicks prevents Fletcher from breaking the clinch. Hicks keeps control of Fletcher as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Fletcher wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hicks tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fletcher avoids it. Fletcher is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Hicks utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A frustrated look appears on Fletcher's face as he tries to break the clinch. Fletcher blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Fletcher softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Hicks throws a head punch that misses. Hicks leaning his opponent against the cage. Fletcher is trying to break the clinch but Hicks is controlling him. Hicks pulls guard effortlessly. Hicks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fletcher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fletcher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hicks has a closed guard, preventing Fletcher from standing up. Fletcher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hicks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fletcher has managed to get both his arms back between Hicks's legs - danger averted. Hicks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fletcher decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Josh Fletcher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fletcher throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hicks stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Sloppy strikes from Fletcher. Those never looked like landing. Fletcher swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hicks counters with a single leg into guard. Fletcher didn't expect that. Hicks won't allow Fletcher to get back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hicks makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Fletcher is trying to keep Hicks in close.
Fletcher controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hicks landing with the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fletcher working a defensive guard here.
Fletcher controlling the position. Hicks gets to his feet - Fletcher follows without any prompting. Hicks has Fletcher up against the cage in a clinch.
Hicks tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fletcher avoids it. Fletcher avoiding damage as Hicks throws knees to the body.
Fletcher is trying to force a seperation but Hicks has the dominant position. Hicks tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fletcher just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Hicks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hicks breaks the clinch.
Fletcher misses with a double jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fletcher throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hicks closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hicks misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fletcher.
Hicks gets control of Fletcher's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hicks will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Hicks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fletcher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fletcher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hicks is looking for a triangle but Fletcher pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hicks is breathing heavily. Fletcher trying to control but Hicks is working from the bottom. Hicks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fletcher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hicks is working an open guard so Fletcher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Hicks dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hicks takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fletcher connects with a nice looking jab.
It looks like Juan Hicks has been cut. Fletcher cracks Hicks with an open hand slap.
Hicks is rocked! Fletcher closes the distance and pushes Hicks back into the cage. Oh Hicks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fletcher lands an elbow inside. Fletcher breaks from the clinch.
Fletcher circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Hicks tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Fletcher wins by KO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Josh Fletcher!
