Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dan Faggio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Do Val! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Faggio moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Faggio shoots and misses and Faggio takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Do Val thuds a left hand into Faggio's body. Faggio shoots in looking for a takedown. Do Val tries to sprawl out of it but Faggio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Do Val manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Do Val dips to his left and cracks Faggio with an uppercut! Faggio scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Do Val trying to control from the bottom.
Faggio winds up and cracks Do Val with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Faggio missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Do Val on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Faggio thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Do Val is not content to let Faggio control the position. Faggio controlling the pace. Faggio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Faggio not landing any meaningful shots this time. Faggio sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Do Val defending well though. Faggio landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Faggio looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Faggio slips a nice elbow through Do Val's hands, connecting with Do Val's forehead. Do Val avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Faggio. Faggio definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Faggio winds up and cracks Do Val with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Do Val is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Faggio scores with a couple of nice shots. Do Val tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Faggio has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Faggio raining down hammerfists from mount.
It looks like Arthur Do Val has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Faggio loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Do Val scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Faggio land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Faggio stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan Faggio!
