PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Frankie Hanson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Frankie Hanson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie Hanson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander White!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hanson to the ground. White is now in Hanson's guard.
White slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hanson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
White controlling from the top position.
White wants to pass the guard but Hanson is keeping the position.
White is fighting to break Hanson's control of his arms but Hanson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hanson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hanson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hanson has his hands on White's head, controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

White moves into the clinch.
Hanson looking for a takedown.
Hanson is looking to take this one to the mat.
White content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Hanson wants the takedown. White is fighting it off but Hanson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in White's guard against the cage.
White looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hanson is one step ahead there.
Hanson really is a fat lump.
White trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Hanson prevents White from getting back to his feet.
Hanson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
White working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hanson.

Hanson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

White looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

White shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hanson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hanson wants to sweep here but White controlling him for the moment.
White controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hanson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hanson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. White manages to get himself to full guard.


White working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hanson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hanson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

White pulls Hanson in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander White dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hanson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hanson wants to control but White postures up.
White tries to score with some ground and pound. Hanson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Hanson is looking to regain half guard here but White keeps moving and retains side control.
Hanson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
White wants to control but Hanson is keeping him busy.
White passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hanson!
White has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hanson is working to get back to half guard.
White is trying to control here but Hanson has managed to regain half guard.

White wants to control but Hanson is keeping him busy.
Hanson wants to control but White is keeping busy and won't allow it.
White trying to control from half guard but Hanson is working away.
Hanson tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

White prevents Hanson from improving his position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

White gets a takedown into half guard.
Hanson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. White is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hanson wants to get back to full guard.
Hanson trying to control from the bottom.
White wants to control but Hanson is keeping him busy.
Hanson is trying to control but can't.
Hanson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
White is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hanson reverses the position - he's now on top in White's guard.
Hanson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hanson got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hanson has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.

White has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hanson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for White.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



White moves into the clinch.

Hanson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Hanson prevents White from getting back to his feet.
White looking to control.

White escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hanson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

White looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hanson has picked White up and slammed him! White can't keep hold of the triangle and Hanson manages to pass to side control!

White struggling a bit here.
Hanson cracks White with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hanson lands some shots froms side control.
White wants to get back to his feet but Hanson is dominant here and he's now got White's back!
White takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
White can't escape the position.
Good control from Hanson.
Alexander White has got the better of the ground game so far.

White rolls, trying to escape but Hanson keeps control of the position.
White looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Hanson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

White tries to roll but Hanson sticks to his back.
Hanson is riding his opponent, not letting White buck him off.
White trying to get back to his feet but Hanson is in full control for now.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
White is trying to stand back up.
White wants to escape the position.
Frankie Hanson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alexander White is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
